What to expect from the start.

A brow treatment is a three–part process usually completed within two appointments. The price you are quoted will include all three stages.

 The consultation

The first part of the process is a consultation. This is normally done as part of your initial treatment, but can be done separately if you prefer. I will talk with you in great detail about the look you are trying to achieve and what we might recommend to you. This is very much a two-way conversation. I listen, I respond, I advise.  Once I have an idea of the look you are aiming for, we draw the brows on with a makeup pencil. These can be drawn on and adjusted 50 times if necessary! We will never begin the tattoo process until you are completely happy with what they are going to look like. If you decide to go ahead with semi permanent brows we can arrange a time convenient to yourself.

The treatment

At the Clinic I will first apply numbing cream.  Whilst this is doing its magic we can fill out all the necessary forms if not already done so.  After about 20 minutes the cream comes off and your brow will be draw on again and as before not until we are both completely happy will we start the micropigmentation.  Using a specialist facial tattooing machine, which works at a much lower frequency than a standard tattoo machine, we gently apply pigment to the skin using very fine needles.  The sensation is that of an electric toothbrush being held against your skin – you feel the vibrations but you should not feel any discomfort. I will always work with you at this stage, giving you breaks if you need them. The process normally takes about 1-2 hours, but it varies from person to person depending on your individual requirements. Immediately after a brow treatment you should expect the area to look 40-50% darker than the colour you have chosen in consultation. This will start to fade after 3-4 days.

What to expect after the procedure; The do’s and dont’s

  • Do not be alarmed as your brows will fade up to 40% when they are healing.
  • Do not pick, scratch or put any make up on the brows whatsoever.  Your brows may become infected and will not heal.
  • Do not cleanse the brows.  This will affect the healing of the brow.
  • Do not get them wet for 7-10 days. – you will be provided with a healing balm to put on the brows when you have a shower but you still need to try not to get them wet.
  • If you do get them wet pat them dry gently with a towel.
  • Do not cleanse them.  – no products whatsoever.
  • You should treat them as an open wound that needs to heal naturally.
  • If you pull, pick or scratch them it will bring out the pigment.
  • The aftercare is very, very important for your desired outcome.

The follow up appointment

A second appointment is needed 4-8 weeks after your first treatment. This is usually a 30-60 minute appointment to add more pigment to the brow area. This is because as the area is healing, some parts may not ‘hold’ as well as others and you may have a few patches that need more colour. This is completely normal and everyone heals differently. Whatever the case, I advise you always come back to clinic for your retouch.
